
Starting in year 1980, Mr. Om Pathak, chairman of the SelaQui Academy of Higher Education, founded the Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad society that now runs four schools including a free school for children of destitute families, where children are exposed to hygiene and health in addition to quality education. The other three schools are amongst the leading CBSE schools in the National Capital Region of Delhi.
Around the same time, Mr. Pathak was closely associated with the setting up of Institute of Management Technology (IMT) also at Ghaziabad, which now ranks amongst the top business schools in India.
In the year 2000, The Gurukul Trust, also founded by Mr. Pathak set up SelaQui International School – a highly reputed Co-educational Boarding school at Dehradun. It was the first International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, in northern hills of India, a region famous for its quality schools. The school is affiliated with International Baccalaureate Organization, Geneva, Switzerland.
Starting in 2003 and in the Year 2007,The Gurukul Trust launched a major initiative, TeacherSITY rooted in the research findings worldwide that teachers are central to any worthwhile teaching / learning effort. TeacherSITY introduced innovative Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for teachers in K-12 schools and has already trained more than 2,500 teachers – ranging from primary to senior secondary teachers. This in-service professional development initiative, being the first of its kind in India, has been lauded and commended by the World Bank, NCERT, Government of India and several such bodies associated with K-12 schools. TeacherSITY also partnered with Australian Council for Educational Research – ACER to test, measure and assess the students and also evaluate the quality of learning in the participating schools. It also is partnering International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievement, IEA, an association of over 100 countries and based in Amsterdam, The Nethersland. This partnership is now addressing major examination and curricular reforms in the school segment.
In the year 2008,Town Schools Education Initiatives, an associate of The Gurukul Trust launched – vocational education and training, employment and livelihood program for economically weaker and otherwise backward and underserved communities in the sub-urban areas across India. It is working closely with the Government of India, Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Labor & Employment in reaching out and across to school dropouts or other educated but unemployable youth. 60 such education & training centres have already been set up across India.
In the year 2010, Town Schools also collaborated with Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU, New Delhi to set up Town Schools Community College with a pan-India footprint to provide education and training opportunities to those desiring to acquire knowledge, skills and certification to improve their career prospects.
And now, SelaQui Academy of Higher Education, at SelaQui, Chakrata Road, Dehradun, is a natural progression and yet another quality initiative of The Gurukul Trust in establishing an institution of academic excellence. The four institutes would accept admission requests from June 2010 for its inaugural session 2010-11.
SelaQui Institute of Engineering and Technology [SIET] – conducts 4-year full-time B. Tech. program in 5 different disciplines:
Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering,
Electronics and Communication Engineering,
Computer Science and Engineering.
Each of these programs would offer admission to 60 students in each discipline.
SelaQui Institute of Management [SIM] – conducts 2-year full-time MBA program with annual intake of 120 students.
SelaQui Graduate School [SGS] - conducts three-year full time programs in BBA Honors.
The quality of the programs would enable candidates to connect with either post graduation in the premiums institutions like IIMs or study abroad in eminent institutions or with employment.
