WORKSHOP ON-“CYBER CRIME & LAW: SAFE SURFING”

DEHRADUN, 20 September 2012:

SelaQui Institute of Engineering & Management in association with Teacher Sity, organized a WORKSHOP on “CYBER CRIME & LAW: SAFE SURFING” by MR RAKSHIT TANDON, Eminent Cyber-Criminologist, Advisor-Cybercrime Unit, UP Police, Agra & a Consultant-IAMAI (Internet & Mobile Association of India) at college campus at Selaqui, Dehradun.. 

The event was inaugurated by the Guest of Honour Deputy Commissioner KV Committee Mr. Narendra singh Rana. A delightful beginning was made by the Director & CEO SAHE, Dr. S.P. Gaur (IAS Retd., Former Joint Secretary, Higher Education) with his inspiring words that  “SAHE attempts to develop a spirit of collaboration, competition, and team- building through a series of unmatched events and activities “this workshop was another step forward in the same direction. The occasion was conceptualized to create an interface for schools and colleges to address the issues which affect students at both levels alike. He expressed that the aim of organizing this workshop was to sensitize educationist against the increasing Cybercrimes in view of ignorance about Cyber laws.

 Mr. Tandon emphasized on the need for netiquette’s in our Netizens. He gave E-Security tips and shared his extreme knowledge & experience on “How to be safe with Social Networking Sites- like Facebook, YouTube etc.”. He talked about the increasing E-frauds & Security issues and shared the internet guidelines which served as a major piece of information for everyone attending the workshop. He laid emphasis on the hacker’s activities over the network & internet.

"The event highlighted the risks and exposures that all organization’s face with regard to unauthorized intrusions and theft on their business systems," said Rakshit Tandon, the speaker. .The workshop covered hacking, intellectual property theft, corporate espionage, security solutions, legal considerations, risks and mitigation strategies. The content also included a demonstration on live hacking session to showcase vulnerabilities often found in many systems. 

One of the major aspects explained through the session was “Safe Online Banking” which was highly appreciated by IT professionals and all the computer users who need to know the basics of Data-Theft & Computer Security. 

The occasion was graced with the presence of Principals & Senior teachers of various reputed & well established schools of Dehradun and surrounding areas.
